Our guest on this week’s show @shelbyvanpeltwrites told us that she’s an avid reader and always has more than one book going at once. She has a bedside book, a car book, and sometimes manuscripts on her Kindle. When we asked her on the live show what she’s read lately and loved she named two books—#lessonsinchemistry by @bonnie_garmus_author which Shelby called “a really fun read,” and #theinheritanceoforquideadivina by @zoraidasolo which she said is “like #encanto for grownups.” In our newsletter Q&A, Shelby also said that the last book she raved about was #themanydaughtersofafongmoy by @jamieford. She said, “I don’t know how a book manages to do both historical fiction and near-future light-dystopia and do both exceptionally well. And to balance several unique stories and voices in a way that feels totally organic. I love that it has just a slight element of the speculative/weird, but in a very grounded way.
